in the Boston Herald today: Sunrise to Sunset Chic

because packing (and a pre-pack shopping spree) is one of the best parts!  naturally my bag will be stuffed with gear from Holiday-- but a few of these goodies may also sneak in-- especially that TURBAN!  ;)

***

I'm finally escaping the cold and will be tropical island bound in a few weeks.  Naturally I've already started dream packing in my mind.  I think I've finally matured to a place where I really do know that bringing less is more, and if I don't wear it at home, I'm not going to wear it on vacation.  This leaves me with a few tried and true (and a few wish list items) that I thought I'd share here.  Choosing timeless over trendy, chic over fussy and a color palette that all works ever so stylishly together (black/white/navy/gold) will help you embrace what holiday-ing is all about:  carefree enjoyment, relaxation and seemingly effortless attention to looking absolutely fabulous while lounging under that palm tree.   Some inspiration...

1.  I love a good bikini, but you can never ever go wrong with a well fitting one-piece in black.   Cap D'ail Scalloped Bandeau Swimsuit.  Heidi Klein, $275
2.  When you buy the book for the cover.   Sure it's got a whopping price tag, but this charming clutch is handmade and part of a limited edition collection.  Love Story Embroidered Clutch.  Olympia Le-Tan, $2010.
3.  Everyone needs to try a turban-- especially in navy & white striped chiffon!   Anna Sui, $80.
4.  Regardless of how many "new" styles of gorgeous, splurge-worthy sandals there are out there, my ultimate remains the Oran in Box.  Hermes, $750.
5.  Love these oversized round sunnies in black & gold.  Very movie star.  The Row, $449.
6.  This natural toyo rice paper hat juxtaposed with gold sequin perfectly amps up the glam factor without being too loud.  Remember, quiet time is key.  Toyo Max Fedora.  Eugenia Kim, $320
7.  Lastly, nothing says "easy breezy... i'm on holiday" like this white crinkled-gauze dress.  I'll wear this from glorious sunrise to glorious sunset.  Helmut Lang, $295.
