september is such a transition month for me. maybe it's because i was born in september (Holiday was born in september, too!) or maybe it's because i think of september as the ultimate gateway month to a change in lifestyle. even though it's still officially summer- my head enters SEPTEMBER as a new season that almost feels like a new year or a rebirth.
and speaking of rebirths, CARINE ROITFELD (former FRENCH VOGUE EDITOR and considered by the world's "chic" to be the peak of chic), has launched 'CR Fashion Book'- the much anticipated online magazine. and like any good editor, she's crafted a catchy "letter from the..." for her opening ceremony that i loved.
Our Editor-in-Chief on the inspiration behind Issue 1.
"When something is consuming your thoughts, you suddenly notice it everywhere. When I learned that my daughter, Julia, was expecting, I immediately began seeing babies and new mothers on planes, at fashion shows, in New York and in Paris. Birth and rebirth all around. I became obsessed. At the same time, I was thinking and dreaming about the first issue of this magazine, which you are reading now. This issue takes rebirth as its theme and is filled with both images and ideas about birth, pregnancy, and family. The promise of youth, the force of age, and the rush of all things new. It’s an escape, a fashion fairy tale. It’s a dream of a better life—because fashion is meant to make us dream.
CR is a place for these fantasies of fashion—the most irresistible clothes on the most beautiful girls captured by some of the most visionary photographers. We celebrate the genius and staying power of fashion’s most brilliant creators. At the same time, however, I like to think of CR as a platform for rising stars. Fashion is an industry built on the excitement and energy of youth, and CR is where you’ll see new talent first. I’ve edited the magazine to be a who’s who of the next generation, as well as an ode to fashion’s legends and icons. Created with humor, joy, grace, and always a dash of irreverence". —Carine
dreaming yet? obsessed? i am.

sometimes i think an article of clothing is so pretty i want to display it like art. i've forever had this amazing vintage (faux) leopard coat perched on an old brass coat rack in my entry just so i can look at it. and that fantastic full sequin dress from Francis last year (haven't worn yet) is often hanging on an armoire in my bedroom. so when i saw these awesome dresses made out of vintage PAPER MAPS i flipped. and because these are MADE to be hung on your wall, they made me feel less like a jerk for wanting to merchandise my home.
AND this creative folding genius also makes clutches!
you can find it all HERE!
some inspiration from around the web...
and Boston Common is perhaps THE most glorious place for it all.

if you've checked Holiday's facebook page lately, you'll see that i'm really messing things up with a million instagram-tweets. ever since this iPhone came into my life, i've been on a photo taking journey of (well) kind of everything. i'm sure this new "hobby" will settle down to a less obsessive pitch, but in the meantime- a few more nyc weekend moments...
Ange and my niece GIGI arrived yesterday for some BIG city fun!!! and you just know i've already started documenting.
the only one that isn't getting annoyed with me is this girl...
stay tuned!
