Happy Fall (& Friday)!
any change of season is exciting. Fall to me is particularly romantic -and a stunning time of year. while late summer still lingers, i slowly tweak my perspective.
while i retire some things, stripey tees are in the top drawer all year long. this staple never takes a back seat. Holiday has some perfect ones right now. mention the blog for 20% off all stripey tees thru the weekend!
i like to switch out old, well worn summer sunnies for a fresh pair of tortoise classics
being on the ocean in autumn is just as refreshing (if not more so)
and changing my scent is another little seasonal pleasure. in the fall months (and especially winter) i love using a unisex or men's perfume (very subtly). anything by Creed does it for me- "Royal Delight" is a perfect transition with hints of leather that balance out a faint floral. the result is rich and timeless and so yummy lingering in big, soft cashmere sweaters and wraps.
scouting for
shoe clips! Holiday has awesome reasonably priced accessories, but sweet shoe clips we are lacking! i'm making it my mission. look how cute?!
sensuous architecture
i LOVE NPR and especially Tom Ashbrook (major crush). this morning he was talking with famed architect, Frank Gehry. while i have never been in one of Gehry's buildings (not even the MIT one) i am now putting it on my list of to-do-soon. Gehry's appreciation of movement, curves and "exciting" architecture is intoxicating. he humbly stated in the interview that "we live with movement and folds- like being folded in a mother's arms". he talked about being inspired by the movement/energy in ancient stone and marble sculpture and his admiration for buildings that have "juice" and "make people feel good". to me his work is so feminine, fertile and alive. i am reminded of the Venus of Willendorf. (this is probably such a bad analogy- but i had to share)
talk about a fertility goddess
